Most fashion jewellery is plated brass or alloy that can tarnish and irritate reactive skin. Titanium is different: lightweight, corrosion-resistant and biocompatible, the same metal used in medical implants.

Why titanium works for sensitive skin

Titanium is one of the lowest-reactivity jewellery metals. True titanium allergy is rare, while nickel allergy is common, so the grade matters. Every rhokea piece uses implant-grade titanium (ASTM F136 or F67), finished with Skin Plating: a pure 24K gold or platinum layer over a ceramic barrier, built for prolonged contact with skin. Independent testing reports very low nickel release, below the EU limit for jewellery worn in pierced skin.
