Water and titanium earrings
Titanium is highly corrosion-resistant, which makes it a strong jewellery choice for everyday water exposure, sweat and showering. It does not rust like iron and does not tarnish like silver.
After showering, rinse off soap residue and dry gently. The metal is not usually the problem; trapped product, moisture and friction around the piercing can be.
What if the piercing is fresh?
A normal shower is usually fine for a fresh piercing if you avoid direct harsh products and do not twist or remove the jewellery. Swimming is different: pools, hot tubs, lakes and the sea can expose a fresh wound to more bacteria and irritation.
Metal helps, but aftercare still matters
Even the best titanium jewellery cannot protect a new piercing from pressure, over-cleaning or contaminated water.
Soap, shampoo and skincare
Soap residue, shampoo, conditioner and skincare products can irritate piercings if they sit around the jewellery. Let clean water rinse over the area, then pat dry with clean gauze or tissue.
